Yanmar Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. was founded in 1910 by Magokichi Yamaoka in Osaka, Japan. TodayYanmar is one of the world's largest manufacturer of diesel engines, with engines from 4 hp up to 5000hk.
Yanmar manufactures not only diesel engines, they also manufacture gas turbines, generators, tractors, construction equipment, park - and garden machinery, injection systems, transmissions and fishing boats.
Yanmar is represented worldwide, with a turnover of around SEK 45 billion and approximately 15,000 employees. The headquarters of the marine business is located in Holland, but manufacturing is done worldwide. With the high degree of automated manufacturing Yanmar can consistently deliver a high quality of all its products.
When Yanmar started its investment in inboard engines it began with small compact models with horizontal cylinders installed in sailboats. But quickly the effects would increase and the first gigs motorization already in the seventies and has since been followed by larger boats through the years. Common to all engines have always been the low weight combined with the small dimensions and high power. With the conditionsYanmar quickly became a popular engine manufacturer among boat builders.
Since 2009, Yanmar has developed its own drive. The engines are from 220 hp up to 370hk and can be combined with the ZT370. Some of the advantages is that it can reach a higher top speed, quieter and easier installation. Yanmar engines are also available with Bravo Drives for certain applications.
Boat builders who currently use Yanmar are for example Anytec, Arronet boats, RIBs Unlimited Powerboat 27, Roslag Boats, Segmo, Westfjord, Westline, Sando, Vector Marine and even several of our well-known Swedish sailboat manufacturers like Arcona, the Hallberg-Rassy, Malo and Najad also use Yanmar. Yanmar is also used by the Coast Guard as well as the sea rescue.
